I was going through a hectic work schedule recently and was urgently in need of an outing or staycation. However, it was impossible to get a long leave and the only way to fulfill all the above-mentioned criteria, is by selecting a trip to a nearby location. Instantly, I started searching the internet for a place that could offer relaxation and at the same time, some adventure. One of the go-to places in North Bengal of India is Lataguri, and I decided it to be the location. However, I was still in need of booking a jungle resort that would serve me the purpose of detoxification. I came to stumble upon the beautiful Sun City Resorts within Lataguri and the pictures on their website clearly showed how it can become the perfect digital detox destination.

And for an adventurous soul like mine, it would also offer that dose of excitement through its jungle safari. I am confused about where to start as I can write a book about the whole trip. However, it would be unjustified if I did not capture this trip to this fabulous jungle resort at Lataguri’s Sun City. Moreover, it would be a sin if I fail to bring all my near and dear ones to this digital detox destination at least once in their lives.

I should start by highlighting the reasons that made this Sun City jungle resort the closest digital detox destination for people requiring quick detoxification from their busy work schedules and gadgets. We booked the jungle resort in the heart of Lataguri one month prior to our visit. I got lucky with the price of the jungle resort as it was off-season, and the booking process was faster too. We were instructed to arrive before 11 a.m. on our booked date, and we reached way before that time. Due to the checkout time at 11 a.m., we were required to wait in the lobby while the employees there served us snacks and drinks.

Amalgam of adventure and tranquillity…    

On the very first day, we decided to go on the jungle safari. The employees at Sun City Jungle Resort instructed us about what not to while inside the jungle, to be safe while enjoying the jungle safari. We were lucky to get sightings of a small elephant herd far away, while the driver enlightened us that if the herd had been nearby, it could have been dangerous. Being a rainy day, we witnessed a peacock opening its train. It was almost time for our lunch and the efficient driver brought us safely back to our jungle resort. There were room services that could be accessed through the intercom, and we decided to have our lunch in our hotel room. The locally sourced vegetables and meat were fresh from the farm and we left our palate squeaky clean. It was time to get some rest to enjoy the nightlife at the resort. We got to see another side of this digital detox destination, and we were called into the middle of the resorts to enjoy the bonfire, while we were served our selected snacks. It seemed almost surreal to find ourselves in the midst of the pitch darkness of the jungle, broken by only the light from the bonfire.

The service at this Sun City jungle resort at Lataguri was excellent as they ensured our dry cleaning was efficiently done. The next day we decided to stay in and spend relaxing at the swimming pool. We made a special request and the management at the jungle resort agreed to serve us food beside the swimming pool, while we felt the mild breeze on our faces. The outdoor games they offered helped clear our minds. Within the forest of Lataguri, sundown comes earlier than in cities, and we had a long night ahead before we departed the next morning. The area where the indoor game facilities were provided, consisted of multiple indoor games, including a few for children as well. Again, this area proved to be another reason that made Sun City Jungle Resort the digital detox destination. The dining area was huge and yet again the aroma of the fresh food items made us eat each of the dishes to its last bit.

Leaving the jungle resort and the greeneries seemed almost impossible the next morning. But we had to take our leave bidding goodbye to this dreamlike digital detox destination at Sun City Resorts of Lataguri. I would recommend anyone with a tight budget in need of a digital detox destination to spend at least a whole day in this jungle resort and rejuvenate themselves from their busy and digitally-emerged life.
